It’s been awhile since I last posted any story updates. It’s just the usual explanation. I took a break, intending it to be just a week or so, and then preschool bugs ran rampant through the house. I think we had something like four weeks in which at least one person in the house was sick. I don’t think I’ve ever been as frequently sick as I’ve been this winter (southern hemisphere, for anyone wondering what I mean by that).
So, I’m going to start posting again, but just once a week and I’m going to focus on getting Book One finished to a complete first draft state. At that point, I’ll do some thinking about what to do next.
I’m also going to take some time to focus a bit on short stories, maybe some online workshopping. We’ll see how that pans out. I’m feeling like I need to spend some time working on my craft. I’m just not where I’d like to be in terms of my skilfulness of writing.
I suspect that I’ll start posting the whole of Book One (with editing as I go) to Royal Road, as the readers here are pretty few and far between. The internet has gone through quite a big consolidation in recent years and a personal blog just doesn’t work as well as it once did for reaching people. Depending on how the contract works, I will cross-post here too (if the contract allows).
Alas, please PLEASE finish the Winter King before getting distracted with other stuff!
It’s one of my favourite n-logies ever. I really REALLY enjoyed the brief spell of a post every two days…
Or at the very least bring the Charm book to a close.
But, really, you should finish the entire pentalogy!
Don’t let the momentum slip!
Hi there. I’m definitely planning to wrap up the series. If nothing else, I feel a sort of strange obligation to the characters to not leave them waiting around in a void.
The latest absence was due to COVID. We all came down positive, having avoided it successfully until now. I’m very hopeful that with the shift to summer (here in the Southern Hemisphere) we’re going to be a bit less hammered by every last preschool bug that passes through…
Anyway, thanks for your kind words. It really does help motive me to finish the work 🙂
