Hi everyone. Just letting you know that the household has been struck down by another bug brought back from preschool. This one was pretty bad. I was laid out with a fever for a couple days, and I’m only just recovering now. Even then, I’m still a bit symptomatic. The COVID tests kept coming up negative, and everyone is saying that the flu this year is something awful… so I suspect it was just that. A something awful flu.
Still, not a lot of fun. I don’t think I’ll be back onto much regular posting until next week.
In other news, I have been slowly hacking away at the expanded version of A Treasure of Bone and Promises. It’s now close to 98,000 words, which is a novel. I still have probably another 5-10 thousand to write, then edit.
In the meantime, I’m going to get Old Dark Things ready for self-publication in digital and print on demand versions. I’ve been editing it furiously, and trying to decide whether it needs to go to a professional editor or not. It’s been edited so many times, by myself and other people, that I’m starting to come down on the side of ‘maybe not’. I am considering recording an audio version myself, which would make for one last, slow edit sweep at the same time. Assuming I do record the book, I’m not sure what I’ll do with it. If the audio is of a reasonably professional quality, then I could in theory upload it to Audible. That’s a bit of a big ‘if’. I’m really not sure that I can pull off that level of quality.
I guess we’ll give it a go and see how it works out. If it doesn’t, then I’d have to consider looking at hiring someone. Anyway, we’re getting there slowly.
